On 19 December 2024, the Arktivate team visited Pak Deden, a coffee entrepreneur who owns a popular coffee shop and 50 hectares of coffee land in Garut. Pak Deden grows various types of coffee beans, two of which are exported to Japan. In addition to managing his own land, he also acts as a collective farmer, collecting coffee beans from local farmers and helping them export their crops to Japan.
Pak Deden decided to try Arktivate on his land, as yields from land that had long used chemical fertilizers began to decline. This decline in soil fertility prompted him to look for sustainable alternatives to restore the health of his land. Given the high value of coffee beans exported to Japan, the livelihoods of Pak Deden and the local farmers he supports depend heavily on the fertility of their soil.
Our visit aimed to provide hope and practical solutions by working directly with Pak Deden and his team. We shared insights about Arktivate and how it can help meet their agricultural needs in a sustainable way. The new coffee plants using Arktivate have been planted for a week, and based on Mr. Deden's experience, they expect to see tangible effects on plant growth within a month.
